5/18/2023 0 Comments Signal movieNic tries to break Haley out but is intercepted. Nic asks Damon where Jonah went, but Damon says Jonah was "never recovered" from the house. Nic and other personnel in the facility find large scorch marks running across the walls. After another night, a security alarm goes off and Jonah disappears. Damon questions Nic again, Nic tries to get answers about Haley's condition (she is in a coma at the time), but to no avail. He is taken to his room where he hears Jonah talking to him through a small vent in the wall, saying his "body feels weird." Nic also notices that his legs, previously weak but functional, are now completely numb. Damon then shows him footage from his own video camera, and pauses where an EBE can be seen hiding behind a tree looking at him. He tells Nic what they encountered near the house was an EBE: an extraterrestrial biological entity. Wallace Damon, the head of the "transition group" in helping with his strange situation. After finding nothing in the house, Nic and Jonah hear Haley scream, and run outside to see her be pulled into the sky, before disappearing into a white light themselves.Nic, now with the number 2.3.5.41 tattooed on his arm, wakes up in a strange and sterile underground research facility, where he is questioned by Dr. They track NOMAD to an abandoned house in the middle of Nevada near their path and decide to go after him. During their stay in a hotel, Nic and Jonah discover that the hacker NOMAD (who nearly got Jonah and Nic expelled for breaking into MIT servers), has found their location and is taunting them with strange and ominous emails. Haley feels Nic is distancing himself from her and Nic explains he doesn't want his muscular dystrophy to hold her back. ![]() The entire film keeps a perfect balance between mystery, successful visual images, surprising plot twists, strong performances and masterfully applied special effects.Three MIT students Jonah, Nic, and Haley are on a road trip to take Haley to California, a decision that's stressing Nic and Haley's relationship. Do not expect “ Star Wars” situations or “ Edge of Tomorrow” action parts. Despite the unknown actors (besides Fishburne) and the fact that this is only the second film directed by Eubanks, this is still a successful and refreshing SF. While watching “ The Signal” I could predict which way it was going and where it would end up (actually there are only two options to choose from), and yet I was surprised at the denouement. The fact that it’s a low-budget film, means that the success of this film doesn’t depend on the quality of SE’s (though there are a few slick-looking effects), but the storyline should be highly original and ingeniously fit together. Actually, it is advisable to go and have a look at this film with as minimum information as possible. Revealing more about this movie would be ridiculous. To Nic’s consternation Wallace announces that they are probably the victim of an EBE (Extraterrestrial Biological Entity). Damon Wallace ( Laurence Fishburne), probably head of this facility and responsible for the investigation. He’s regularly interviewed by someone named Dr. ![]() ![]() He has no idea where he is, where his friends are and what is going on. The next moment Nic wakes up in a kind of research center where everyone walks around in space suits. They end up somewhere in no man’s land in a dilapidated shack of a house. They decide to follow his tracked signal and confront Nomad. Along the way, they are contacted by a rival hacker, Nomad, who has put them in an awkward position already before. Something Nic wasn’t so happy about, resulting in ending up (probably temporary) their relationship. Haley was planning to attend school in California. Nic was on its way to California, together with his girlfriend Haley ( Olivia Cooke) and his best friend Jonah ( Beau Knapp). Eventually I had the same feeling as Nic ( Brenton Thwaites) : groping in the dark, anxiously looking for the truth and feeling desperate. Sometimes you watch a movie and you are wondering all the time what’s actually going on.
